About us

EBIeLearning is created and maintained by members of the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI). EBIeLearning shares knowledge, discusses research, organises events and talks. It focusses on learning methodologies, tools and technologies, bioinformatics and all things eLearning.

This forum hopes to provide anyone at the EBI and the Sanger Institute, and in the wider bioinformatics and life sciences community, with resources, advice, guidance and ideas  for creating and developing online training. At present the EBI are developing their own eLearning site and this forum will also include discussions reflecting the progress of the site. EBIeLearning will include topics on everything from ‘comparing and contrasting video conferencing software’ to ‘the best way to write a tutorial’. The EBI’s eLearning developers work closely with the EBI’s web developers, aiming to produce user friendly online training, to find out more about usability and interface design please visit the EBI Interface blog.

The EBI itself is a world-leading centre for research and services in bioinformatics. It is located next to the Sanger Institute, on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge, UK.
